Big Data & Analytics Innovation Summit 2018

March 12, 2018

One step back to take two steps forward

Vibrant discussions took place at Asia’s biggest gathering for data executives across different industries in Singapore. The Big Data & Analytics Innovation Summit focused on tapping into the leading minds of Big Data practitioners, such as DBS Bank, Uber, Google Cloud, GRAB, Citi, Lazada and IBM, to build a strong 2018.

Kenneth Thevarajah, our VP Business Development & Sales SEA, was among the participants showcasing gateB’s expertise in guiding organizations through their Big Data & Analytics journey.

When it comes to developing a Big Data Strategy, we have to think beyond analytics. The key to success is to integrate and move analytics into an innovation and transformation agenda within the organization.

White Paper

Read our white paper about the 5 requirements for marketing in a digital world to learn more about big data & analytics in marketing

How? Organizations need to take 1 step back to take 2 steps forward!

· First, we have to understand the goals and requirements of all relevant stakeholders,

· Then, we have to clean our data, hence improve our data quality, and even label the data accordingly,

· Next is to train our people. We have to empower them to learn and develop their capabilities over time by using relevant tools that help them increase productivity,

· Finally, is to update the model with new data - for it to get more efficient and better over time.

Machine Learning & AI was another big topic at the event. AI is seen as a key element in today’s marketing strategies for organizations to continue to stay relevant with their customers. As there is no standard approach yet to AI, therefore goals and KPIs must be agreed and set with relevant stakeholders from the get go! Two of the most impressive examples at the summit were from AXA Asia and Sephora.

At gateB, we guide organizations (small and large) with a step by step approach through their Big Data & Analytics journey. Based on our experience, the companies that succeed are those that implement a structured and systematic approach to their Big Data Journey. For example, with small and medium companies, a first step is the development of its data infrastructure or data governance, whereas with larger companies, it is to allow data science to run the decision making within the business.
